What can we expect from Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow? The DC Comics movie gives the first official details… Thanks to James Gunn!
James Gunn has revealed the first details about the Supergirl movie. As collected from Variety, the new managers of DC Studios have officially announced a Kara Zor-El tape as part of Chapter 1 of the DCU, “Gods and Monsters.” And now we have big revelations about the film.
The future movie Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow confirmed by James Gunn is based on the Tom King comics of the same title. They were published between 2021 and 2022. The filmmaker shared that the DCU version is a “very different type of superheroine.” He has noted that this iteration of Kara Danvers is “much more hardcore.” We don’t know exactly what she’s referring to, but… Is it violence or something else?
Kara Danvers’ version will be much tougher and more complex
James Gunn went on to say that the DC Universe’s Supergirl will explore a version of the heroine who was raised on a piece of rock outside of Krypton and someone who watched everyone around her die and be murdered in horrific ways for the first 14 years of her life. Everything indicates that the future DC Comics movie will focus on the emotional part of the character. His development will be hard and complex. And that’s something that could work very well in a mass market.
“Within our story, we have Superman, who was sent to Earth and raised by incredibly loving and nurturing parents,” James Gunn began by saying. “While Kara was on Krypton, she was on a piece of Krypton that drifted away from the planet. And she lived there for the first 14 years of her life in a horrible situation where she watched everyone around her die. So she’s a much tougher, more fucked-up Supergirl than we’ve been used to up to now.”
