The premiere of the second movie of Avatar has given fans back their passion for the intricate landscape of Pandorathe culture of the Na’vi and the complications that James Cameron leads to this sci-fi world.
Almost completely taking over the podium of the highest grossing films in history, Avatar and Avatar: The Sense of Water have more than laid the foundation for three other installments to continue the experiences of Jake Sully and his family.
James Cameron already anticipated weeks ago that Avatar 3 would feature the “People of the Ashes,” a tribe of Na’vi who would serve as antagonists in the new film, under the auspices of their leader, played by I’m Chaplin.
Now, in a chat with Deadline with the designers Ben Proctor and Dylan Colethe director anticipates another of the Na’vi tribes that we will meet in the future.
“Windtraders”: the nomadic Na’vi from Avatar
While discussing the diversity that we have yet to see on Pandora through the upcoming Avatar movies, Cameron highlighted that there are several biomes on the planet left to explore.
“There’s a rainforest, there’s an arctic, there’s a desert, there’s an ocean, all these different biomes with all their creatures and cultures.
Not only did we have to do creature design, but we did cultural design and imagine what these different adaptations of the Na’vi might look like in these different biomes. Desert people, Windtraders, traveling, that kind of thing.”
For now, the next stop for the franchise to Jake Sully and his is Avatar 3, which has almost all of its principal photography completed, but won’t hit theaters until December 2024. Will it repeat the success of the second movie?
