JAKARTA – NATO has voiced concern that China is supplying deadly weapons to Russia to aid Moscow’s war in Ukraine. Both are in tension with the West, what would happen if the Moscow and Beijing militaries formed a coalition?
Referring to the Global Fire Power 2023 military power ranking data, the military of Moscow and Beijing are in the top 3 positions out of around 145 countries.
The following details the military strength of Russia and China in a coalition:
1. Russia
Russia is one of the most influential countries in the world. On the military aspect, Global Fire Power places this country in 2nd place—just below the United States (US)—with a power index score of 0.0714.

With an estimated total personnel of 1,330,900 people, they have 830,900 active troops, 250,000 reserve personnel and 250,000 paramilitaries. The overall figure is divided according to their respective duties in the Army, Navy and Air Force.
Turning to the weapons sector, the Russian Army has 12,566 tanks, 151,641 armored vehicles, 4,336 towed artillery units, 6,575 mobile artillery units, and 3,887 rocket artillery.
The Russian Air Force is supported by 1,531 helicopters, 773 combat aircraft, 444 transport aircraft, 524 training aircraft, 147 special mission aircraft, 744 attack aircraft, and 537 attack helicopters.
Meanwhile, for the Navy, Russia is supported by 86 corvettes, 11 frigates, 70 submarines, 59 patrol boats, 49 warships, 1 aircraft carrier, and 15 destroyers.
