KERALA – Zahhad and Ziya Paval who are a transgender couple in Kozhikode Kerala, India, are getting ready to become parents.
The couple announced they are expecting their baby next month. This may be the first pregnancy of a transgender person in India.
The couple, who have been living together for the past three years, shared the happy news via Instagram.
Ziya Paval, a dancer, took to Instagram and announced that her partner, Zahhad, is now eight months pregnant. In one of his posts he wrote, “Alhamdulillah.”
The couple are now expecting their first baby in March. This is the first baby born among the transgender community in India.

Ziya was born a boy and turned into a girl and Zahhad was born a girl and turned into a boy.
Both left their families during their early adulthood after discovering their transgender identities.
“We will fulfill my dream of becoming a mother and his dream of becoming a father. Eight month old fetus now in (Zahhad) tummy… From what we know this is the first trans male pregnancy in India…,” wrote Paval in the Instagram post.
