And a few years ago, the artisan preparation at home was put aside to buy it made. With the appearance of this as a product, its consumption became more massive and common. But should it be so? In this note we consult specialists to find out if it is advisable to consume it daily.
Is it healthy to eat mayonnaise every day?
Nutritionist Yenny García, from the SANNA Ambulatory Division, categorically points out that “daily consumption of mayonnaise“. You may have suspected this answer, but do you know why it is not recommended?
“It is not healthy because within its ingredients there is excess fat, which exceeds the daily recommendation by only a personal portion,” García notes. Nutritionist Saray Asmat, for her part, even adds that it can aggravate cardiovascular problems.

That is why we also consulted Katherine Cantaro, nutritionist and teacher at the UPC Graduate School. Meanwhile, the specialist Asmat believes that it is better to restrict it even more. “These processed sachets have a large amount of carbohydrates. If we wanted to consume them, it could be a sachet every fortnight, if a healthy diet is followed. If you have high blood pressure or diabetes, it is advisable not to consume them,” he advised.
How to consume mayonnaise healthily?
However, the nutritionist Cantaro also pointed out how this consumption should occur. “It’s not eating mayonnaise with potatoes and rice, but looking for the mayonnaise to be present in a preparation rich in vegetables, to give them more flavor and help the habit of consuming them,” she adds.
The nutritionist Yenny García agrees with this, but without stopping working on other eating habits, “giving consumption options both for vegetables and not depending on the mayonnaise“.
What other options are there then? Both nutritionists recommend other, healthier fats. Among the options mentioned were the avocadoguacamole, mayonnaise based on Greek yogurt and olive oil.
