While it may seem difficult for developers to add an online component to Hogwarts Legacy in the foreseeable future, a talented modder has already gotten to work turning the open-world title into an online experience for up to 8 players. The final version is still a long way off, but the early progress is impressive.

The person in charge of this impressive project is the modder Yamashi, one of the minds behind the Skyrim Together Reborn mod that adds a multiplayer component to the acclaimed RPG from Bethesda.
The Hogwarts Legacy mod, dubbed HogWarp, is developed by Yamashi, although 2 members of the Skyrim Together team help increase the code base and there is a possibility that they will join the development of the project. In the meantime, a trial version is now available for subscribers to your Patreon account.
That preview version is very basic and full of bugs, as development is in its early stages. Still, it’s functional and in a shared video we see 2 players going through the magic school at the same time. It is expected that in the coming months the final version will arrive, which will be free.

In response to an editor from the PCGamer portal on Discord, the modder indicated that the project does not intend to add an exclusive mode for multiplayer. Instead, the focus is to create a cooperative and roleplaying experience. The goal is to allow up to 8 people to play in a session at the same time, although there could be changes in plans.
