Hogwarts Legacy is officially on the streets, the new RPG adventure developed by Warner Bros. Games and Avalanche that has been one of the most popular titles on Steam for 10 consecutive weeks, despite all the political charge that the game has had. game for the accusations of transphobia against the creator of the world of Harry Potter between the LGBTQ + community and the people who support these movements.

But far from those discussions, which are valid regardless of our preferences, there were many Harry Potter fans who couldn’t wait and bought the Deluxe Edition, which gave them early access to the game before February 10. During that period, the game peaked at 489,139 concurrent players, which it was obvious would change after the official release.
Don’t forget that Hogwarts Legacy is a single player game, but despite that, I already surpassed 800,000 Steam users playing at the same time, with a peak of 807,112. This led him directly to Valve’s Top 10, and which currently holds the second position among the most played games on the platform.
But the real contender for the wizarding game is Cyberpunk 2077, which hit a peak of 1,054,388 concurrent players the week of its release, in terms of single-player games. Another rival to beat is Elden Ring which reached a record of 953,426 concurrent players in its first few days of release, however this game has a multiplayer mode and is therefore considered a partial competitor. With this, Hogwarts Legacy is the second or third most concurrently played single player game on Valve’s platform in its history.
We don’t know if the boycott helped to further popularize the game or not, but the numbers are in sight, and the title based on the saga by writer JK Rowling already has its place among the highlights of 2023.
