Apparently Hogwarts Legacy was banned by the Games Done Quick (GDQ) organization which hosts speedrun marathons to support charities by raising money. After GDQ updated the list of titles not included in the upcoming marathon, the title set in the world of Harry Potter is among them, but “subject to further revisions in the future.”
I Harry Potter games have been approved in previous events organized by GDQ and the company has yet to give The Gamer explain why they banned the latest title developed by Avalanche Software and the entire series. However, it is believed to be related to controversy surrounding author JK Rowling’s comments about the transgender community which led to a Hogwarts Legacy developer boycotting the game entirely and the game director to clarify that “the team created Hogwarts Legacy for everyone.” GDQ’s list of banned games also includes games with excessively sexual and excessively violent content, which shouldn’t be surprising for an event that aims to be suitable for a child audience as well. The next event organized by GDQ will be the marathon Summer Games Done Quick in May, but let’s imagine that Hogwarts Legacy and the entire Potter saga will not be included in the programme. We refer you to our review and remind you that Hogwarts Legacy is available on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S il April 4th will be available on PS4 e Xbox One while on Nintendo Switch will arrive on July 25th.
