All this aggressiveness has many consequences for healthcare workers, says Jan den Boon. “If it happens often it can make them sick or it can be a reason to leave care.” MST encourages healthcare workers to report if a limit is exceeded, but hardly anyone does. “They are afraid to step out of anonymity,” says Den Boon. That is why he wants it to be made easier for healthcare workers to be able to report anonymously. “Preferably from within the organization so that we can start that process for the employees. That would be a step forward.” In 2022 three declarations were made, in 2021 only one.
