PURWOKERTO.SUARA.COM – Tjok Bagus Pemayun, Head of the Bali Tourism Office, said that the Bali Provincial Government has formed a task force team to handle tourists who come and work on the Island of the Gods but do not have a work permit.
Quoted by Antara on Monday, 27 February 2023 Tjok Bagus admitted that there was no definitive report yet from the tourism and community components, but the task force team consisting of vertical regional apparatus organizations (OPD) such as immigration and internal officials at the Bali Provincial Government would investigate on the ground.
According to him, until now internally there are Satpol PP, the Office of Manpower and ESDM, the Office of Industry and Trade for licensing, and a complete police force.
“The task force team to deal with things like this, be it Russian citizens or whatever our tourism problems will involve this team,” he said.

Previously, it was widely reported that after the Russia-Ukraine conflict, many citizens from these countries came to Bali, even in January 2023 visits by Russian tourists became the second highest after Australia.
Therefore, the government monitors their movements to ensure they arrive according to the visa they are carrying, if not, then the task force team formed by the Bali Provincial Government will work to carry out guidance and enforcement.
“First, whatever it is, there must be rules or regulations. It’s clear here that if you use a tourist visa, you can’t work. If there is work, we will check it in the field with this task force team,” said Tjok Bagus.
He also emphasized that Bali would definitely be at a disadvantage if tourists were found working without the appropriate visa, even if they had a work visa there were still rules because the permit could not be used arbitrarily.
“Anyone who comes to Bali several times, I say, must follow the existing rules, please come to Bali as much as possible with a note that they must follow the existing rules, both on a Balinese and national scale, that is clear,” he added.

For action, the task force team that has just been formed by the Provincial Government of Bali will work according to the portion of their respective sectors, including policy-making attitudes which will be adjusted at the stages of mild, moderate and severe actions.
“I can’t say yet, what’s clear is that according to the rules we follow. We will definitely carry out the deportation options if necessary. If something like this doesn’t need a target, we will immediately follow the existing rules,” said Tjok Bagus.
Meanwhile, IB Setiawan, Head of the Bali Province Employment and ESDM Office, added that now his team will move to comb through the data because so far the difficulty is monitoring incoming and outgoing data.
“Of course it can’t only be on the provincial government side, regency/city areas, but also the center because the system is there. Then the entry of foreign nationals to Bali and from Jakarta directly, of course, has a role for immigration,” said Setiawan.
Furthermore, Setiawan said he would determine a strategy to anticipate tourists working without a work permit by collecting data and working with the tourism agency as the leading sector. ***
