The suspect, a 31-year-old Serb, was arrested in Schwäbisch Hall, a town near Stuttgart in southern Germany. The police arrested him just 150 meters from where he is believed to have committed both the first and second murders.
In October 2020, a 94-year-old woman was killed and two years later in the same neighborhood a 77-year-old woman was the victim. Last Wednesday, an 89-year-old woman was found dead in her home, 4 kilometers away from the other two murders.
DNA that matched was found at the three crime scenes. All three murders were committed on a Wednesday, according to police.
The police tracked down the perpetrator because he had been at another elderly person’s house a week earlier, threatened her and hit her on the head. She survived the incident and was able to tell police what he looked like.
Similarities
The other three victims were also hit on the head and the similarities eventually led to the arrest.
Police are investigating whether he has committed any other crimes in the region. A motive has not yet been disclosed, but the victim who survived says the perpetrator had demanded money.
