MILAN, 17 FEB – The price of gas slips below 50 euros per megawatt hour for the first time since December 2021. TTF futures, a reference point for the price of natural gas in Europe, closed in Amsterdam down 5.98% at 48.9 euros. From the peak of 340 euros per megawatt hour, reached at the end of last August in the wake of the cut in Russian supplies, gas has lost over 85% of its value due to a mild winter, reduced consumption, diversification of supplies and a more massive use of liquefied gas. Factors that have, at least for now, averted the risk of an energy crisis in Europe. (HANDLE).
