Grosso’s team is unstoppable, Inzaghi and De Rossi in crisis, Como catches Südtirol again in the final
February 11 – Milan
Frosinone plays the sixth symphony. Insigne, Moro and Mulattieri sign the 3-0 against Cittadella and give Grosso his sixth consecutive victory in the league. Reggina’s free fall continues: at the Granillo, against Pisa, for Pippo Inzaghi’s men comes the fourth defeat in the last five matches. The goal by Lapadula’s ex lifts Cagliari against Benevento, while Como grabs Bisoli’s surprising Sudtirol at 1-1 at the end, thanks to Cerri’s penalty. A penalty, that of Falcinelli, which brings three points to Modena in the Rigamonti match against Brescia. De Rossi’s Spal loses again, at the Penzo against Venice. At 16.15 Ternana-Parma and Ascoli-Perugia.
FROSINONE-CITTADELLA 3-0
—
The leaders restart from the Stirpe match against Gorini’s team. The match changes just before half an hour: on 26′, the Ciociari pass through Moro, good at picking up Kastrati’s rebound on Insigne’s shot. A couple of minutes later, ten guests remained due to the expulsion of Perticone, who stopped Moro from launching into the net. Frosinone flies on the wings of the trident of dreams: in the 49th minute it is Insigne, served by Caso, who puts his signature on the 2-0 with a nice left-footed shot. 10′ from the end it was Mulattieri’s header that gave the Cittadella the final blow. The leaders continue to convince and returns to +11 on Genoa, the first pursuer.
SÜDTIROL-AS 1-1
—
Blocked teams and a lot of intensity in midfield in Druso’s start, but the only chance of the first half is a shot by Da Cunha just before the break. The score changes in the 69th minute: following a corner kick from the right, Tait’s side finds the winning touch from Zaro. Bisoli’s men tasted third place alone, thanks to the simultaneous defeat of Reggina, but Como equalized in the final with Cerri’s penalty, at the start of recovery. With the 1-1, Bisoli still catches Inzaghi at an altitude of 39.
REGGINA-PISA 0-2
—
After the knockout against Palermo, Pippo Inzaghi’s team hosts Pisa al Granillo. The Calabrians push in the first few minutes, but the first big chance of the match comes in the 20th minute with the usual Fabbian’s right foot. In the 64th minute, D’Angelo’s team’s first shot on goal changed the inertia of the match: Sibilli’s header hit the crossbar, then Gargiulo punched in an empty goal. The amaranths didn’t find the right reaction, they conceded the 2-0 (Gliozzi penalty in the 70th minute) and remained in ten in the final after the expulsion of Bouah (two yellow cards) in the added time. For the amaranths, it’s the fourth knockout in the last 5 races.
CAGLIARI 1-0 BENEVENTO
—
At the Unipol Domus, the first jolt comes after 9′. Azzi duets with Mancosu on the left, returns on the right and tries the round shot, rejected by Leverbe. In the 28th minute, the great chance for Ranieri’s team came on Prelec’s right foot, well caught by Mancosu: the Slovenian lacked lucidity in front of Paleari and squandered the possible advantage. Cagliari closes in ten due to Altare’s expulsion in the 73rd minute (two yellow cards), but passes after two minutes with the most classic of the ex’s goals. Lapadula signs it, with a nice header from Millico’s cross from a corner. The Sardinians rise to sixth place, at an altitude of 35.
BRESCIA-MODENA 0-1
—
Not very lively start at Rigamonti. The only thrill of the first half comes around the half hour mark, with Gerli’s close shot that brings Tesser’s team one step away from the lead: after Andrenacci’s rebound, Oukhadda’s left foot would be worth 1-0, but the goal was disallowed due to the irregular position of two Modena men after the shot. The guests find the 1-0 from 3 points from a penalty, whistled for a flick in the area by Papetti: from eleven meters, Falcinelli is glacial (79′). Modena smiles and keeps the playoff area in sight.
VENICE-SPAL 2-1
—
De Rossi hands over the first starting shirt to new signing Nainggolan, but things go badly for Spal after 12′. Pohjanpalo takes advantage of Zampano’s percussion and touches for Tessmann, who surprises Alfonso and makes it 1-0 with a right from the edge. Venice’s doubling comes shortly after the half hour mark with Pierini: the attacker takes advantage of a mess in Spal’s defense to dribble past Alfonso and finish with an empty net. Spal returned to the match in the 56th minute and shortened the distance with Dickmann’s header. The blue-and-white forcing is not enough for the comeback: Venice finds the second consecutive success and moves away from the hot zone.
