Final Fantasy XVI aims to be one of the biggest releases of the year. However, there are still many doubts regarding the platforms on which it will be available. After months of speculation, Japanese producer Naoki Yoshida finally cleared up the issue.
The original announcement initially confirmed that the JRPG will debut for PlayStation 5 and PC. Shortly after, Square Enix clarified the information and indicated that it will be a temporary exclusive of the new Sony hardware, although it did not disclose more details about it. As of early 2023, the producer refused to talk about the PC version and urged fans who want to play the title to buy the next-gen console.
Will the title come to PC? When will it happen? Naoki Yoshida finally broke his silence, and during an interview for the Official PlayStation Japan Blog, he talked about temporary exclusivity and what it entails. Unfortunately, there is news that will disappoint the fans.

Final Fantasy XVI will not arrive 6 months after the debut on PS5, confirms Naoki Yoshida
The Japanese creative reiterates that the new installment of the popular franchise will come to PlayStation 5 and it will be a 6-month timed exclusive. However, this does not mean that the PC version will be released immediately after the exclusivity period ends.
The producer clarifies that they invested a lot of time and money in the optimization of the PlayStation 5 version of Final Fantasy XVI, this with the aim of offering the best possible experience. While he says he’d like to release a PC version at some point to reach a new audience, he says he doesn’t know when that will happen.

“If we start optimizing the PC version after the PS5 version is released, we won’t be able to do it for 6 months, so it won’t be released within that time. We would like to release it eventually, and we think we will, but right now we’re not at the stage where we can say when,” Naoki Yoshida said.
Finally, the Japanese creative invites players to give the PlayStation 5 version a try, in which they worked hard to “create the best game in the world.”
Unlike the vast majority of installments in the JRPG franchise, Final Fantasy XVI will be aimed at an adult audience, as complex issues such as violence and relationships will be addressed. The good news is that fans will be able to understand the whole story thanks to the Latin dubbing.
But tell us, when do you think the PC version will arrive? Will you wait or buy a PS5 to play this title? Let us read you in the comments.
