What you see above is, according to the information based on the CADs of 9to5mac, the final design of the iPhone 15 Pro. A generation later, the changes might not seem relevant at first glance, but this year there are key features that bring some impactful twists to the overall iPhone package. The cameras seem the main beneficiaries and, yes, we will finally have a USB-C port.
The images you are seeing correspond to renders made by 3D artist Ian Zelbo, based on the original CADs that 9to5mac would have had access to. The source claims that the CAD comes from a factory outside of China, one of the first to obtain this official documentation.
Goodbye Lightning. In the CAD we see the first big change: the iPhone finally has a USB-C port, saying goodbye to Lightning. Despite having implemented the C port on Mac and iPad, Apple was not in favor of including it on the iPhone. Luckily for consumers, strict EU regulations seem to have forced them to change their minds: all phones in the European area have to have this unified port.
more ergonomic. Another change that we see is that the curvature of the edges of the device increases, both in the glass itself and in the bezels. It is a small curve in search of ergonomics, the panel remains completely flat.
A monstrous module. The maximum prominence is taken by the camera module, which protrudes from the body of the terminal in a more remarkable way than ever. The structure will be the same as last year: main sensor, ultra wide angle and telephoto lens, all accompanied by a LiDAR.
Despite this, thicker lenses are expected this generation, in addition to larger sensors. There is no news on whether these changes will affect the main sensor (remember that Apple released a 48-megapixel sensor last generation) or if, finally, we will have an ultra-wide angle and telephoto lens with more ambition than already seen.
capacitive buttons. As it sounded in the rumors, everything points to the fact that the iPhone 15 Pro will have capacitive buttons instead of physical ones. The design of the volume keypad has been redesigned, and even the switch to switch between sound and silence modes. There is hardly any information on how they will work and how we can act with them in case the iPhone gets stuck, but we are facing one of the biggest changes in Apple’s history.
Less bevels. The CAD design allows us to see a noticeable change to the front bezels of the device. The iPhone 15 Pro will have a more ambitious frontal use than that seen in the last generation. There doesn’t appear to be any change to Dynamic Island, Apple’s transitional solution as it looks for a way to introduce Face ID below the screen.
The iPhone 15, the iPhone of the great change. Generation 15 will be key for Apple. It is the iPhone of port C, the iPhone to consolidate the photographic results that the 14 Pro produced, the iPhone that will introduce the Ultra family, and the iPhone that will have to juggle to contain a final ticket that grew remarkably last year.
