After a 1-1 draw in regulation time, Chivu’s team fell into the final lottery due to mistakes by Iliev, Fontanarosa and Stankovic. The Ukrainians go through
Penalty kicks condemn Cristian Chivu’s Inter Primavera. The baby Nerazzurri say goodbye to the Youth League by losing the play-off against Ruh Lviv from the penalty spot after a 1-1 draw in regulation time: the mistakes of Iliev, Fontanarosa and Stankovic were fatal. The Ukrainians qualify for the round of 16, Inter returns to Milan with a bitter taste.
What a waste
—
The splendid goal by Francesco Pio Esposito, the youngest of the three brothers, was useless. “In the family we are all good, football is a gift. But the youngest is the strongest of all”, said Salvatore, born in 2000. Francesco is five years younger and is growing visibly. He scored the 1-1 goal in the 52nd minute with a beautiful winger from before to beat Hereta, protagonist in the second half of several important interventions. After the draw – Panchenko scored in the first half for Ruh Lviv – Inter had the chances to win the match: Carboni and Stankovic slammed into the opposing goalkeeper and in the final there was some shivering for the Nerazzurri, with rescues by Zanotti and Fontanarosa.
The sequence

Esposito also scored the penalty, Inter’s third. Iliev missed the first, goalkeeper Calligaris immediately remedied. Fontanarosa had the penalty to give qualification but failed, before Stankovic’s error on the sixth attempt for the Nerazzurri. Dejan’s son came from the splendid double in the league against Napoli. Thus ends, with some regret, the adventure of the Chivu boys in the Youth League.
