The Federal Prosecutor has accepted the plea bargaining request of the Ligurian club regarding the failure to fulfill part of the payments of the Irpef withholding taxes in September and October. Fine of 6,000 euros for the CEO Blazquez Ceballos
The news was expected, now it’s official. Following the plea agreement reached by the parties, Genoa was sanctioned with a penalty point to be served during the current football season in the Serie B championship.
Reasons
—
The managing director of the Ligurian club, Andres Blazquez Ceballos, was also fined 6,000 euros. The consent expressed by the Federal Prosecutor’s Office, also found by the General Prosecutor’s Office for Sport at CONI, is motivated by the fact that part of the payments of the Irpef withholdings relating to the months of September and October 2022 have been made and that, as of 16 December 2022, the deadline last for the fulfilment, the club appeared to have a positive balance on the bank current account which would have in any case allowed the full payment of the disputed withholding taxes.
Updated ranking
—
Genoa is now at 42 in the standings but remains in second place in B (12 points behind leaders Frosinone) with a three-point lead over the trio formed by Bari, Reggina and Sudtirol.
