Marco Antonio Solís, El Buki, has just been nominated for “Best Regional Mexican Album” at this year’s Grammy Awards. It was thanks to his album “Qué ganas de verte (Deluxe)” that his name proved to be more valid than ever. The singer competed with artists such as Chiquis Rivera, Christian Nodal, Los Tigres del Norte and Natalia Lafourcade who won the statuette.
At the end of the Grammy Awards, Marco Antonio Solís was approached by the press. There “El Buki” answered all the questions that were asked and He even made reference to the current music scene. However, it was what colleagues think that most attracted the attention of the press. Their impressions of other bands of the genre left more than one with their mouths open.
Although he did not specifically name Grupo Firme, it was understood that they were included in his assessments. It is that Marco Antonio Solís pointed out that he does not feel at all identified with the regional new bands, especially those that do not stop saying “bad words”. For “El Buki” this does not represent the genre at all and he also dislikes it a lot since they feel that the regional one is badly off.
In this sense, Marco Antonio Solís made it clear that he “disagrees with songs that talk about bad words or topics that do not make us proud, but do there are very nice proposals that have brought out new generations in this genre”. He even maintained that the songs with “many high-sounding words” do not hold the public in the slightest respect.
Marco Antonio Solís added that “with all the evolution that is required in these times to make it sound different, fresher, without losing the essence of what the Mexican regional is”. Definitely, without even mentioning it, it was understood that Grupo Firme was one of the bands to which his message was directed, which was clearly targeted from his experience in the music industry.
