The Mexican consumer confidence index (ICC) increased 1.5 points in January compared to the previous month until reaching the 44.2revealed this Friday the National Institute of Statistic and Geography (Inegi) with seasonally adjusted figures.
Compared to the same month of 2022, the ICC, prepared jointly by the Inegi and the Bank of Mexico, rose 1.2 points. The ICC had monthly increases in the five components that comprise it.

The factor that registers a greater increase is that of “possibilities at the current time of the members of the household, compared to those of a year ago, to make purchases of furniture, television, washing machine, other household appliances, etc.”, with a monthly increase of 1.8 points and an annual one of 2.1.

followed by “expected economic situation of household members within 12 months, compared to the current one” with a monthly increase of 1.5 points and an annual one of 0.7.
while the “economic situation of the country expected within 12 months, compared to the current one” it rose 1.4 points month-over-month, but fell 0.2 points year-over-year, the only component with a year-over-year decrease.
On the other hand, the “current economic situation of household members compared to what they had 12 months ago” increased 0.9 points in the month and 0.6 points in the year.
And finally, the “economic situation of the country today, compared to 12 months ago” it increased by 0.6 points in the month and 2.3 in the year.
These data are produced in the midst of accelerating inflation in Mexicowhich registered an annual rate of 7.94 % in the first half of January, the highest index for a start of the year since 2001.
They are also spread after it was revealed on Tuesday that the gross domestic product (GDP) of Mexico grew by 3% in 2022 promoted by all sectors and within the expectations of the Government.
