Eclipse, the next big expansion for Destiny 2, will debut on February 28. Unfortunately, it seems that this release is being a headache for some. We say this since the preload of the game is blocking several users of Destiny 2 on PlayStation 5.
It turns out that some faithful Guardians already bought Eclipse and decided to preload it so they could play from the first moment it was available. That’s great, the problem is that when the game is completed it crashes with the initial Eclipse screen. With the above, players will not be able to touch Destiny 2 until February 28.
This is a situation that has taken some players by surprise, who are taking advantage of the weekend to grind and get ready for the premiere of Destiny 2: Eclipse. If you are one of them and you still do not preload, we recommend removing automatic updates to avoid the same thing happening to you.
UPDATE: PS5 players who still want to play Destiny 2 need to perform the following:
• Uninstall the game
• Go to “Game Library”
• Select “Your Collection”
• Select the Destiny 2 icon
• Select the PS5 version
• On the D2 store page, select “Download” to reinstall D2— Bungie Help (@BungieHelp) February 26, 2023

The good news is that in case you are affected it seems that everything is solved by deleting and reinstalling the game. Of course, it is far from being an ideal solution since Destiny 2 weighs several GB and is a download that can take hours.
It should be noted that this issue only seems to be present in Destiny 2: Eclipse on PlayStation 5. With that being said, we recommend that Destiny 2 players on PC and Xbox stay tuned to avoid an inconvenience.
