Following the very strong earthquakes during the night, the ministry of sport has decreed the stop of all sporting events in the country
A terrible earthquake, 7.8 the maximum shock and other aftershocks, over 800 victims and rubble everywhere. Southern Turkey experienced an unimaginable tragedy overnight. A tragedy that obviously also involves Turkish sports clubs. Minister of Youth and Sports Mehmet Kasapoğlu announced that all national sports competitions scheduled on Turkish territory are suspended until further notice. The tragedy of the earthquake that struck Turkey and Syria left over 800 dead. The earthquake was felt intensely in Hatay, Osmaniye, Adıyaman, Gaziantep, Şanlıurfa, Diyarbakır, Malatya and Adana provinces. Today was scheduled – speaking of sporting competitions – the football match of Adana Demirspor (led by the Italian coach Vincenzo Montella), in Istanbul against Umraniyespor.
“We hope that there are no casualties in the earthquake that took place in Kahramanmaraş, whose epicenter was felt in the surrounding provinces, including Adana, and we send our best wishes to all our citizens” is the text of the club post soccer. Lucia Bosetti, a former Italian volleyball player, also plays in Adana, who posted a story to reassure everyone. Right now the team is gathered in a gymnasium after the night scare and awaiting instructions
