SARMADA, FEBRUARY 14 – A United Nations delegation entered rebel-held areas of northwestern Syria today for the first time since the earthquake to assess the needs of hard-hit regions, an AFP correspondent said. The delegation entered through the Bab al-Hawa border crossing with Turkey. “This is largely an assessment mission,” Kenn Crossley, director of the World Food Program in Syria, told AFP in Geneva.
