The Aston Martin Formula 1 team has appointed Felipe Drugovich to replace injured driver Lance Stroll for the test days in Bahrain. The 22-year-old Brazilian, champion of Formula 2 last season, is responsible for the testing together with Fernando Alonso. The Formula 1 teams prepare from Thursday to Saturday at the Sakhir circuit for the season, which will start at the same place a week later.
The ten racing stables may each have one car on the track at a time. This means that the drivers of all teams alternate. Drugovich takes care of the morning session at Aston Martin on Thursday, the Spaniard Alonso takes over the wheel after the lunch break. The distribution for Friday and Saturday has not yet been announced.
Stroll recently suffered an injury in a cycling accident. The 24-year-old Canadian starts his fifth season in Formula 1 with the team owned by his father Lawrence. Stroll has Alonso, who came over from Alpine, as a new teammate. He hopes to be behind the wheel again at the Grand Prix of Bahrain next week.
