With a fun proposition and lots of potential, MultiVersus took the community by storm and quickly became a mass phenomenon. However, the months passed and the charm ended, as the fighting title now has difficulties to maintain the interest of the players. Despite the obvious problems he faces, he has managed to win another accolade.
This week took place the DICE Awards 2023, the awards ceremony organized by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS, for its acronym in English). There, the best video games that debuted last year or had a notable participation in recent months were recognized.

Thus, MultiVersus faced off against Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure: All-Star Battle R, Rumbleverse, Spiderheck, and The King of Fighters XV in the Best Fighting Game category. To the surprise of many people, he bested his rivals and took home the award.
However, the community is not happy with the win, considering that there were other candidates who deserved to win the award. Users took to social networks to demand new content from developers such as characters, settings, skins and game modes. They also called for more transparency and communication.

MultiVersus debuted in the middle of last year with great success around it, as it achieved a record of 153,433 concurrent users on Steam and was the best-selling game in the US during July despite being free-to-play. Also, he had a stellar participation in the EVO 2022.
However, little by little the fans lost interest and left. Last week, we told you that the video game from Warner Bros. Games and Player First Games has already lost more than 99% of its player base on PC. According to testimonials on social networks, this is due to the absence of new content.
Season 3 will debut on March 31 after suffering a delay. It will be at that moment that we will discover the future of MultiVersus. Do the developers have an ace up their sleeve? We’ll have to wait to find out.
