Bautista once again confirmed that this will be his last Marvel Studios movie, noting how he and his co-stars have all signed on for a trilogy and that this will be the last iteration of their Guardians of the Galaxy. “I think, yeah, it’s weird, I don’t know why it’s news,” Dave Bautista said. “I feel like it’s… This is my seventh movie as Drax, and my third Guardians, and it’s like our trilogy. That’s more or less what we all signed on to, do a trilogy. This will be the last version of our Guardians of the Galaxy.”
Drax the Destroyer’s farewell in the UCM
Jimmy Fallon asked the Marvel Studios star if it was hard to walk away from the role, to which Dave Bautista admitted that it was hard but also that the time was right. He wants to end his run with James Gunn in a similar way to how he ended his career as a professional wrestler, making clear your intentions of not wanting to tarnish your story in any way.
“It’s hard, but it’s time, and it’s the perfect start,” he said. Dave Bautista on his goodbye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. We’ve all had those kinds of perfect story arcs and story endings. I always relate to the way I ended my wrestling career, I ended it on a storybook note and I would never go back and tarnish that, and it’s the same with this, with Drax. I have to finish in a perfect way, and I would never sign for another job like Drax just to get a paycheck, I wouldn’t blemish that and I won’t.”
