Limassol, Cyprus, February 17. A few days of kite-surfing in Dubai, to unwind, and then the new road of life’s adventure. Edo Mossifor 3 years and 4 editions Sports Coordinator of the Dakar, leaves the offices of the racing management and returns… to the track. Lax but it is not a clean cut, neither with ASO nor with the past, in fact Mossi will continue to deal with the Rally-Raid World Championship, the W2RCwith the Promoter, and in the meantime (this must be said softly) will launch a new Event of which he is the creator, designer and, of course, organizer.
Edo Mossi of Tortona Beach, 43 years old scarce half of whom dive into extreme sport, especially as an organizer. He was once referred to as a intermittent enthusiast in search of his true, or stronger, passion. Able to commit 100% as a rider and change the year after. Of being a blogger or vlogger (to be honest I don’t want to know exactly what both are), or maybe an influencer (struck with flu?), quit and become intercontinental traveller. Traveler? Yes, in Africa for example, and in Africa to finally discover passion with that amount of energy capable of transforming itself into a vocation, and therefore into a priority and definitive choice.
The step towards the Dakar is short and inevitable. In 2004 he decides and in 2005 he is at the start, in Moto, of the Barcelona-Dakar, 27th edition of the queen of Rally-Raids. 16 stages later Edo Mossi is at the Pink Lake, at the finish line of his first, and only, Dakar. The goal is achieved and the experience indelibly marks the now ex Pilot concentrated on a new project, his Merzouga Rally. It takes some time to get it right and get the hang of it, but the Moroccan Rally has a original formula and gets a smashing successto the point that, ten editions later, unable to imagine an alternative, ASO asks to buy the event. Edo Mossi agrees, provided he continues to be its director. It doesn’t seem true to the organizer, and so on Mossi joins the structure responsible for the Dakar.
Mossi deals with 4 editions of the Dakar in Saudi Arabia, from the terrain to the design offices, from reconnaissance to sports formulas, from the definition of strategic plans to race control. With david castera the report is strong and instructive, and the Dakar, as we have seen, takes off again into new skies of efficiency. Above all, however, Edo Mossi manages to recreate that relationship atmosphere of the good old days with the participants, specifically with the Italian competitors. We have already talked about it, it is useless to repeat ourselves.
Won the personal challenge of a 45th edition particularly difficult, Mossi matures the decision for which we are here to write and, also, to regret (we are talking about that flow of good energy between organizer and competitor which is interrupted again at the Dakar). It is natural to ask yourself: what will Edo Mossi do “when he grows up”? If you look at the incredible, exclusive accumulated experience in a life of passion, there are two “logical” paths. Become Team Manager of a Top Team of the Dakar or return organizer. The two choices are not in conflict, and if you think that the idea might not be ours alone, it’s just a matter of waiting. Meanwhile, however, Edo Mossi announces the imminent revelation of his new eventfor now classified as Desert Master. At the end of March the official announcement, you can be sure that it won’t be something… normal!
