Smilegate announced the end of service of CrossfireXthe free-to-play shooter for PC and Xbox consoles. The closure of the servers is scheduled for May 18, 2023.
The Korean company lets know that the sale of all in-game content has already been suspended. Furthermore, anyone who has purchased something in the two weeks preceding February 3 can request a full refund of the expense. Finally, in the FAQ it is specified that single player modes will no longer be accessible starting May 18, 2023. This means that anyone who has purchased a campaign, including the most recent one developed by Remedy Entertainment, will no longer be able to enjoy it once Smilegate has pulled the plug on the servers.
A bizarre decision that we are sure will make more than a few players turn up their noses.
