ROME, FEBRUARY 26 – “The one that took place today on the Calabrian coast is an enormous tragedy. A dramatic balance that rises by the hour. The images of missing persons, including children and babies, are heartbreaking. It is yet another wound to the humanity of all of us”. Defense Minister Guido Crosetto says so, attacking the “unscrupulous smugglers” and observes: “Europe must make its voice heard and it must be a single, choral voice shared between States and institutions, fighting for peace everywhere, investing in the growth of the poorest countries, offering asylum and the possibility of structured, controlled, legal and free entry, making agreements with the countries of origin of illegal immigration”.
