ROME, FEBRUARY 02 – Tomorrow the constitution of the jury of honor will be announced in the Chamber of Deputies, which was requested by the oppositions after the statements made last January 31 in the Hemicycle of Deputies by Giovanni Donzelli (Fdi) against four deputies deputies of the Democratic Party including the group leader Debora Serracchiani. According to ANSA, the jury, whose conclusions cannot be appealed (the final report is simply read in the assembly but is not discussed or voted on) will be made up of five deputies, but it is not yet known who will preside over it: the vice president Giorgio Mulè he stated that he was unavailable as he was chairing the meeting when the events occurred. The regulation of the Chamber (article 58) establishes that, when in the course of a debate, a deputy is accused of facts that harm his honor, he can ask the Speaker of the Chamber to appoint a commission – the so-called Giuri’ d’ honour, in fact – to judge the legitimacy of the accusation. The commission can be assigned a deadline to present its conclusions to the Chamber, which takes note of them without debate or vote. The number of jurors is not specified, which have usually been only a couple. (HANDLE).
