THE REPORTER He spoke with Michelle and the actress Mayra Batalla about the arrival of this film on the big screen. “We are very excited, it has been a very long process, many years of work, any film is a miracle, we dreamed of this moment for a long time, I never thought it would be so big, that the film would be released nationwide with 800 copies and several premieres in Latin America are also confirmedthe goal is for it to be a film that entertains, but that there will also be a conversation for those who go to see it”, says Michelle.
In “Huesera” motherhood is observed through a point of view that breaks the romantic and loving image that is usually associated with this moment. The story focuses on exploring the emotional and physical processes of a woman becoming a mother for the first time. The film, from the horror genre, does not stop worrying about entertaining its audience, while inspecting the social expectations that define our lives and that often subject us to the loss of our own identity.
The director notes that she started from “very personal things, a lot of inspiration comes from my observation before my own mother and my grandmothers. But you also see yourself and you realize that there are many unfounded fears and that there are many expectations of what your life is supposed to be in order to become happy, which to me was actually terrifying in many ways. , because they generate many questions, because at the end of the day it is your whole life that is being decided with these paths that are taken or not. At the same time, I surrounded myself with very talented friends and a team that faithfully believed in the project and little by little it became a collective conversation”.
In fact, these reflections, the director highlights, are connecting with many people who have felt identified, because they decipher that these questions that are asked on the tape are more common concerns than one might think.

In the plot, “Valeria” (Natalia Solián) is a woman who dreams of being a mother, but the day her pregnancy is confirmed, a sinister entity called “Huesera” begins to stalk her. Her obsession with this curse affects her domestic life and puts her pregnancy at risk. To combat the “Huesera”, “Valeria” immerses herself in urban witchcraft that will lead her to rediscover her past, when she was a young punk who did not want a traditional family.
Mayra talks about how it was working with Michelle and the character she develops in the plot, “for me working with her was very refreshing because She is not a common director in the way she approaches the actors, I think that more than saying, ‘show me what you do’, it was ‘let’s talk about what you think’, and that apart from being very refreshing, it’s also a big commitmentbecause it involves you as another creative and not just as someone who is going to repeat lines or do what they are told”.
The actress plays “Octavia” on the film, a character that “took me through a lot of reading that I hadn’t done, listening to music that I hadn’t heard, thinking about femininity, feminism, sexuality and the love that ‘Octavia’ proposes ; This is a gift that the stories give you, when the characters invite you to question things, which in the best of cases is what the public will leave the theaters doing, questioning relationships”.
Both Michelle and Mayra are proud of the work done and hope that the result will please the public.
