the mythical serie 80’s Matlock will return to the small screen in the form of a reboot by CBS, this time with Kathy Bates giving life to the prestigious lawyer.
As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Jane the Virgin creator Jennie Snyder Urman is developing a Matlock rebootwhich already has the green light from CBS to develop the pilot episode.
Originally broadcast on NBC between 1986 and 1992 and later on ABC until 1995, the serie featured actor Andy Griffith in the role of Ben Matlock, a skilled lawyer who hides his ruthless nature behind a folksy appearance.
As is logical, the Matlock reboot will change the gender of its protagonist and Kathy Bates will play Madeline Matlock in a plot that will follow the same premise as the original series.
Thus, its plot revolves around Matlock, a 70-year-old former district attorney reluctant to retire who arrives at a prestigious law firm where she wins a variety of cases using her supposed ingenuity to her advantage.
Kathy Bates, an impressive actress on both the big and the small screen
Throughout her career, Kathy Bates has been especially known for her roles in movies, highlighting among them her magnificent performance in Misery that led her to win the Oscar for Best Actress.
Although back in the 90s there was a certain stigma with film actors participating in television series, Bates had his foot in both industries for a long time, playing some of the most outstanding roles.
Although it was not until her participation in The Office where the actress’s career shone greatly on the small screen with series like American Horror Story or The Big Bang Theory.
It is because of that Kathy Bates will do a great job playing this new version of Matlock in the reboot of the series, whose premiere will take place soon.
