The Call of Duty franchise is far from over, after all the unknowns that are popping up these days due to Microsoft’s purchase of Activison Blizzard, we now know that the 2024 installment could reach the old generation of consoles. This is really good news for all those people who have not been able to make the leap to the new generation.
After Activision confirmed that during this 2023 we will be able to enjoy a new title that will arrive in the form of a “premium delivery”. Thanks to some leaks, in addition to Treyarch’s own statements working on a new game and thanks to a new report from Insider Gaming; this new Call of Duty could reach the old generations of consoles.
Call of Duty would not be exclusive to this generation
The leaks that have occurred regarding Activision mention the new Call of Duty of 2024. And as we told you at the beginning of the news, this new title could come to Xbox ONE and PlayStation 4. Something that would generate a much higher number of sales, although with risks in its development. There are chances that in order for the new game to work well, current consoles will be affected.
It is not the first time that it has happened, we have seen many times how new games are not able to take advantage of the full power of Xbox Series X | S and PlayStation 5 because they are crossgen deliveries. However, another option is for the same thing to happen that happened with the recent Hogwarts Legacy; a version for the new consoles, and months later for the old ones, with a development more appropriate to the power of those machines.
Although as you well know if you are followers of this world, Microsoft would have reached an agreement with Nintendo to bring Call of Duty to its console, so maybe the development for the less powerful consoles is not a problem for the developer. For now, we have to wait for new news about it, remember that this is still a leak, so it cannot be taken as official. So stay tuned for everything that may come.
