After season two, fans suspect that season three will be all about Benedict Bridgerton, just like in the books of the same name by writer Julia Quinn. In her third book (A royal offer) it is Benedict, played by actor Luke Thompson, who finds love. Now it appears that things are different and Netflix no longer keeps the book series. Penelope and Colin are only next in the fourth book. And it looks like we’re going to be disappointed again next season.
A list of characters on the author’s website behind the best sellers mentions another lover above Benedict’s love interest Sophie, namely Eloise her suitor from the book The Hand of the Countess. This makes fans suspect that the fourth season focuses on Eloise.
It is not yet known when the third series will appear. Reportedly it could be a while since series producer Shonda Rhimes is not happy with the dark storyline of season three. An insider recently told The Mail on Sunday that Shonda Rhimes is not happy with the direction of the third season, especially with a certain storyline about sex. “There are certain elements that Shonda isn’t happy with. She wants it changed because it’s too dark.” The recordings have therefore been moved up to implement the adjustments in the script.
So the series is delayed, but with good reason: “One thing is certain: the creators of the series want Bridgerton fans to enjoy the same as the first two seasons.”
