TURIN, 13 FEB – The theme will be ‘Through the looking glass’ and the writer Svjatlana Aleksievic will be present at the inauguration. These are the previews for the 35th Turin International Book Fair announced today at a press conference by the editorial director, Nicola Lagoia. The host country will be Albania and the host region Sardinia. “The Salone has finished building me as a man” said Lagoia, announcing the theme ‘Through the looking glass’. “In front of the mirror – he explained – there are two mythical figures, Narcissus, and today there is so much narcissism, and Alice who has the strength, ability and imagination to cross it and today we need to transform reality. And the Salone – he added – is a place for the transformation of reality”. Lagoia then revealed that “the Salone will be inaugurated by a great writer, the one that all festivals would like in a historical moment like this, not with the war but with the invasion of Ukraine, Svjatlana Aleksievic”.
