Nowadays, to make the inside of your car smell good, you often no longer have to look for such a sticky tree to hang on your interior mirror. Many models have their own built-in aroma diffusers that spray a perfume as desired through the outflow openings of the climate control. A number of BMW models also do this, but the Bavarians apparently do not want to stop there.
Fake exhausts, fake sound and fake smell?
The American CarBuzz has intercepted a patent on which the effect of an odor-spreading BMW logo is explained. However, according to the drawing, that logo is not on the inside, but on the outside of the car. According to the limited block of German text, the emblem would take the form of an active scent diffuser, which would presumably rise to spray some perfume through a spout into the outside world. The purpose of the development is not explained on the drawing, but it seems appropriate that the cars with the largest nostrils also smell the best.
What we cannot deduce from the patent is what smell the device would spread. We assume that it is a perfume, but in times of electrification we see something like a petrol smell that fits next to some false engine noise through the speakers and a set of fake exhausts on the back. Moreover, we also see the concept working as a form of theft prevention, although you have to pour a considerably less pleasant scent into the reservoir. So the possibilities are endless; Now we just have to wait and see whether BMW actually does something with the idea.
