WASHINGTON – United States (US) President Joe Biden’s annual State of the Union address on Tuesday night (7/2/2023) sparked shouts and jeers from a number of Republican lawmakers.
Republican congressmen are furious despite House Speaker Kevin McCarthy’s previous warnings against harassing the US president.
The speech of the President of the United States (US) Joe Biden was carried out for 72 minutes in the Congress building. He focuses on US domestic and foreign policy. The speech came as the public’s approval ratings for Biden were near the lowest levels of his presidency.
Following are the shouts from Republican lawmakers.
Republican Representative Marjorie Taylor Greene appears to be leading the crowd shouting during the US President’s (POTUS) speech.
He stood up to shout “liar” as fellow lawmakers took aim at Biden for his assertion that some in Republicans want to cut Social Security and Health Care.
“Instead of making the rich pay their fair share, some Republicans, some Republicans want Social Security and Medicare to stop. I’m not saying it’s a majority,” Biden said.
This was followed by boos and jeers from Republicans in attendance, with many shouting “no” and some shouting “liars”.
