SANREMO, 07 FEB – “Article 21 of the Constitution is my favorite and the most important: the pillar of all human freedoms”. Roberto Benigni for his opening monologue at the Sanremo festival chooses the article on freedom of expression. Specifically, the Constitution reads: “everyone has the right to freely express their thoughts”. “A simple language that seems written by a child, with a strength and beauty that leaves you amazed. But if they wrote it, there was a need – says the comedian -. Because during the twenty years one could not think freely. Article 21 freed us from the obligation to be afraid”. “In countries very close to us, opponents are imprisoned and chained, just because they show their faces or hair, or because they dance and sing. How wonderful and extraordinary it is that in Italy everyone has the right to freely express their thoughts. We have to remember that. The best thing for the future is to remember to have the past in the present”. (HANDLE).
