James Gunn confirmed that the new DC connected universe will share actors and canon in movies, series, animated productions and video games. Fans believe that it is a very ambitious project that can fail at any time. We now know that various game developers also take the same stance.
Del Walker, formerly of Rocksteady and developer of Batman Arkham, believes Gunn is headed in the wrong direction. So he used his social networks to launch a harsh criticism against his project and, above all, against the idea of having the same actors for all productions.

Walker disagreed so much with Gunn’s ideas that he said he would never work on a DC game again. From his perspective, it is a mistake to want characters to be consistent and played by the same actors in all productions, including video games.
The developer claimed that the industry has its own talents and that it doesn’t need Hollywood actors to make something great. As an example, he gave the work of Tara Strong, an actress who has participated in various video games, including Batman: Arkham City and Injustice 2, where she gave life to Harley Queen.
“James Gunn just said that DC wants characters in movies, games, and animation to be consistent and played by the same actors. I will never work on a DC title again if it sticks. You’ve gone crazy if you think Hollywood can beat Tara Strong’s Harley or any other voice actor,” Walker said.
The developer ironically wished Gunn luck and invited him to make famous actors agree to his proposal and match a voice actor from the video game industry. Also, he explained that a game requires much more acting work than a movie, which usually lasts 2 hours. Instead, the games have hundreds of lines of dialogue and require actors with a free schedule.

Other developers reacted to Walker’s comments with a similar position, believing that maintaining a project like the one Gunn proposes is very difficult, especially for budget reasons.
