From Software has been developing and producing excellent Soulslike titles for years now, such as the award-winning one Elden Ring which received the GOTY. On the occasion of Taipei Game Show the new title Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon returns to be talked about, thanks to an interview with the producer, after his announcement at TGS.
First of all, the title will not be a Soulslike but a very difficult experience will still await us. Interviewed during the recent Taipei Game Showthe producer Yasutaka Ogura he said the game is designed around taking care of customizing the mech and also using the variety of options available to find the best way to overcome the difficulties present in the title. Ogura stated how: “In this game, as always, we have strived to create a game that is a tough challenge for our players, and I am confident we have succeeded..” Adding to how it all revolves around mech customization: “Our approach to the question of difficulty level in Armored Core 6 is slightly different from that of other titles, as the most distinctive feature of the Armored Core series is the combination of parts to customize the player’s mech. Since this is the core of the title, it is really the adaptation of these parts that is the key to overcoming the difficulties of the game. This is where we put the most emphasis, in conjunction with the action system. We have designed a game that rewards using the most appropriate actions in each situation to overcome difficulties and achieve a sense of accomplishment.”
The producer also added that the boss fights in Armored Core VI will serve to highlight the experience proposed by the development team, in line with the history of the software house. About Ogura stated that: “The boss battles have always been the mainstay of the series, and we’ve tried to keep that here, using many of the same techniques that have been successful in the past. Boss battles in FromSoftware games often require close observation of the enemy’s movements, to catch that little clue so you know exactly when to attack and how best to make your move. This is definitely the case with this title, so I’m confident our users will find the boss battles extremely entertaining.”
Finally, he added how the battles against the various bosses will be significantly more dynamic than in previous From Software titles, with aggressive movements and attacks by enemy mechs, with fights that mix both close-quarters and long-range combat. Finally, the producer explained how: “Due to the use of mechs, both the player character and enemy characters have extremely dynamic movements. As robots, their dynamism is matched only by the aggressiveness of their movement. Attack distance, in particular, changes frequently, from close range to ranged, then far to close again. In that respect, the dynamic action of these battle scenes really serves to keep players on their toes.”
We remind you that Armored Core VI Fires of Rubicon will likely release this year for PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
