WASHINGTON – The United States (US) marked the one year anniversary of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine by announcing new sanctions for Moscow and new military aid for Kiev.
New US sanctions target more than 100 entities both in Russia and around the world, including banks and defense equipment suppliers.
In particular, the US has said it wants to stop those helping Russia exploit loopholes to obtain approved materials.
On the other hand, the US poured out USD 2 billion or around IDR 30.5 trillion for the latest military aid for Ukraine.

A further USD 550 (Rp 8.3 trillion) will be supplied to Ukraine and neighboring Moldova to strengthen their energy infrastructure.
“One year later, the commitment of the United States, along with about 50 united nations to rush aid to Ukraine, has only strengthened,” the US Department of Defense said in a statement to the BBC, Saturday (25/2/2023).
In a press release, the White House said the new measures were designed to distract Russian financial institutions, officials and authorities from operating illegally in Ukraine.
It comes four days after US President Joe Biden made a surprise visit to Kiev, where he held talks with his Ukrainian counterpart, Volodymyr Zelensky.
In its latest round of aid, the US government will provide Ukraine with new drone systems, high mobility rocket systems, ammunition for artillery systems and communications equipment.
