Despite the idea being born as an internal project within Valve to experiment with the Source engineor so the legend goes, Portal eventually became everything a cult gamea masterpiece that revolutionized the puzzle genre, expanded the narrative universe of Half Life and featured one of the best villains ever: GLaDOS. Now a fan fights to finish the portal remake that everyone is waiting for.
Technically we could say that the retouched version of the Valve classic to take advantage of the ray tracing technology that NVIDIA published just a few months ago, Portal RTX, it could be a more than successful remake, although a PC with a lot of money is needed to take advantage of all its features. This fan remake takes other paths beyond the purely technical section, since add new content and improvements which were later seen in its sequel.
Portal returns with a new cake
This is Portal: Another Slice, a project created by fans that seeks to bring back the Valve classic with new features, but without touching what made the game so special in its original 2007 release. “Another remake of Portal 1, centered on preserve their dilapidated and deserted Aperture Science in the art style of Portal 2, while tweaking and expanding some segments of the game,” says the description of the project in Lambda Generation.
For now there is no specific date for the arrival of this mod, we don’t even know yet how the game will finally look or the improvements you plan to incorporate from Portal 2. The presentation of the project has been accompanied simply by a blurred image of one of Portal’s test rooms with the logo of the project in the center. Hopefully there will be** more information coming soon** as the project progresses.
Some say that Valve could return to active video game development with new installments of Left 4 Dead and Half Life, even the first details of Portal 3 would have been leaked, but it is a story yet to be seen. The company’s latest gaming project was Half Life: Alyx for virtual reality, which came to Steam after a decade in which the company focused almost exclusively on Counter Strike: Global Offensive y DOTA 2.
