MELBOURNE – A Buddhist temple in Melbourne, Australia, was completely destroyed by a major fire on Sunday night (5/2/2023). Eyewitnesses claim that the temple turned into a real “hell”.
“About three dozen fire trucks and around 150 firefighters were dispatched to the scene to extinguish the blaze,” the Daily Mail reported.
ABC News Australia put the number of firefighters at 80.
Photos and videos published on social media showed the temple complex ablaze, with huge flames rising above its roof and thick black smoke billowing into the night sky over the area.
According to some media reports, smoke from the two-story building was visible 15 km away.
This temple is located in Melbourne’s southeastern suburb of Springvale and is a popular landmark and place of worship for thousands of local Buddhists.
