NABLUS – The team Israel killed nine residents Palestine including at least two gunmen and three civilians, and injured about 70 others in an attack on a raid in the occupied West Bank, Wednesday (22/2/2023).
As Al Arabiya reported, the Israeli army confirmed it was carrying out an operation in Nablus but did not immediately provide further details.

The militant Islamic Jihad group said two of its commanders in Nablus were surrounded in a house by Israeli forces, triggering clashes involving other gunmen. Explosions were heard and local youths pelted the armored troop carrier with stones.
Medical officials said two Islamic Jihad commanders were killed. The other seven fatalities included at least three civilians, among them a 72-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy. “About 70 Palestinians were injured,” medical officials said.
Nablus and nearby Jenin have been the focus of raids that Israel has intensified over the past year, following a spate of deadly Palestinian street attacks on its cities.
At least 50 Palestinians, including gunmen and civilians, have been killed in 2023, says the Palestinian health ministry. Ten Israelis and a Ukrainian tourist were killed in the Palestinian attack, according to Israel’s foreign ministry.

“We condemn the occupation’s invasion of Nablus and we call for an end to the continued attacks on our people,” said Nabil Abu Rudeineh, a spokesman for Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas.
Hamas, another Palestinian militant group that has occasionally fought alongside Islamic Jihad, hinted at possible reprisals from the Gaza Strip, the territory it controls.
“The resistance in Gaza is monitoring the increasing crimes committed by enemies against our people in the occupied West Bank and is running out of patience,” Abu Ubaida, spokesman for Hamas’ armed wing, said on Telegram.
Hamas and Islamic Jihad vow to destroy Israel but have in the past observed Egypt-mediated ceasefires with it.
