Circa sixty of the hundred new motorcycles given to the brigade of the Local Police of Rome remain they have been in storage for about a year. The reason? The municipality of Rome would not have purchased the equipment necessary to guarantee the safety of the driving policemen. In detail, protections, knee pads, helmets, gloves, boots and technical jackets would be missing. For this reason the policemen cannot go out and the Moto Guzzi V85 TTs, announced last March by the mayor of Rome Roberto Gualtieri, remain stationary in the depots, for one waste of public money which amounts to about 900,000 euros. This is what emerged from an investigation by “Mattino Cinque News”.
“Citizens would like to see agents in the streets, we find it absurd that due to the lack of a few tens of thousands of euros needed motorcycles are kept stationary when purchasing equipment. There is a lack of political direction and also of management capacity for the scarce resources available”, he said Marco Milani Sulpl secretary of Rome to the cameras of “Mattino Cinque News”.
