SEOUL – The birth rate of a country is one of the factors that determine the welfare of society. While some countries are experiencing population growth, others are experiencing birth rates that are lowest.
The following are countries with the lowest birth rates in the world based on The World FactBook by the US Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) 2022.
1. Monaco
Monaco is the country with the lowest birth rate. In a year, Monaco’s birth rate is only about 6.66 per 1,000 people.
According to Humanium.org, the low birth rate in Monaco is due to poor demographic development.
Monaco’s current population is 39,973. The population of Monaco is equivalent to 0.0005% of the total world population.
2. Andorra
Andorra is one of the smallest countries in Europe. With Andorra la Vella as its capital, this country consists of a series of mountain valleys whose streams unite to form the Valira River.
The population in Andorra in 2023 will reach 77,590 people. Andorra has also been named the country with the lowest birth rate.
In a year, Andorra only has a birth rate of 6.88 per 1,000 people.
