A new series will come to ViX, it is “Las Pelotaris 1926”, a drama inspired by the history of the first professional athletes in Spain and that poses the challenge they had to face to stand out in a time and a world dominated by men.
“Las Pelotaris 1926” is the first fiction that arises from the strategic agreement between TelevisaUnivision and The MediaPro Studio pFor the creation of content and one of the most anticipated original productions for its exclusive premiere on ViX this 2023. The international cast of “Las Pelotaris 1926” is led by the Mexican Zuria Vega and the Spanish Claudia Salas and María de Nati.
The main cast is completed by the Argentine David Chocarro and the Mexicans Marco de la O, Vicente Tamayo, Héctor Kotsifakis and Antonio Gaona. Shot between Mexico and Spain, the original production was created by Marc Cistaré and is executive produced by Laura Fernández Espeso, Javier Pons and Cistaré himself, by The MediaPro Studio. Marc Cistaré also leads the writing team made up of Adriana Rivas, Javier Naya and Anaí López.
Jesús Rodrigo is in charge of directing the eight episodes, which have Chechu Graf as director of photography and Fernando González as art director. The predominantly female cast also highlights the presence of the Colombian Viviana Serna and the Spanish Alex Onieva, Krista Aroca and Eva Rubio. In the preview, we see the main characters “Chelo”, “Idoia” and “Itzi”, struggling to achieve her dreams in the 1920s, in a male-dominated society. All three are famous Basque pelota players. and successful athletes who fill the pediments, but assume the consequences of breaking the mold in a world where ambition and sexual freedom were denied to women.
After a first stage of filming in Mexico, the team of “Las Pelotaris 1926” sHe moved to Spain to film on stages in Madrid, Guadalajara and the Basque Country. It is precisely in Euskadi, cradle of the ball gamewhere the most diverse settings have been chosen: the Hotel Londres and Playa de la Concha in San Sebastián, the Plaza Berri pediment in Biarritz and the streets of towns such as Artikutza and Pasaia.
They also highlight the locations chosen to shoot in Mexico as the iconic Zócalo of the capital and the Gran Hotel Ciudad de México, the magical town of Tepoztlán and the paradisiacal enclave of Las Estacas.
