The director of XCOM e XCOM 2, Jake Solomonsaid he was aware of fan demand for a new chapter in the series, but said he wasn’t currently working on it.
In an interview with VGC about his latest game, Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Solomon spoke briefly about his other strategy series, acknowledging that a return of XCOM is in high demand among gamers.
This is an excerpt:
“Sure, you can ask (laughs), you can add your voice to the choir that resounds from the hills”
“I personally have no information on this at the moment and I say that because, honestly, I was working on the Morbius Abbey robes and recolors yesterday, so I’m not working on that. I have no secret agendaI don’t know anything about XCOM at this point”.
The most recent XCOM game, the spin-off Chimera Squad, was released for PC in 2020. The last full chapter, XCOM 2, came out in 2016.
Solomon also told VGC last year: “As long as I live, as long as Firaxis lives, XCOM is… I won’t even say it’s sleeping. I will say that XCOM is definitely not dead.”
Earlier this week Firaxis released Marvel’s Midnight Suns The Good, The Bad, and the Undead DLC pack, which introduced Deadpool to the game.
This is the first of at least four downloadable content packs planned for Midnight Suns, including add-on packs based on Venom, Morbius and Storm.
