This week, Xbox and Bethesda held the new Developer Direct, a digital event where they presented news about their projects. While the companies revealed their announcements ahead of time to avoid disappointing the community, there was room for a very pleasant surprise: HI-FI Rush, a Tango Gameworks title that debuted after the broadcast ended.
Without a doubt, it is a very interesting marketing strategy. In the video game industry, it is common for studios to reveal their titles years or months before the official release.

HI-FI Rush surprised all the players
Phil Spencer, head of Xbox, stated on his Twitter account that the idea to release HI-FI Rush without prior notice came from Bethesda. While he acknowledges that this strategy doesn’t apply to all games, he says Xbox Game Pass makes these kinds of releases easy. Lastly, he praised Tango Gameworks for the very unique concept of the project.
“All credit goes to Tango Gameworks, they had an idea to build something new. The surprise release was (idea) from Bethesda. It’s fun to have some positive surprises. Xbox Game Pass made the surprise launch easy. It won’t be suitable for every game, but the reaction to HI-Fi Rush was incredible,” said Phil Spencer.

Although the surprise debut was not seen coming, the truth is that a leak revealed the existence of the action video game shortly before the Developer Direct began. Still, the community praised the announcement.
Despite the fact that Tango Gameworks is a studio that we associate with the horror genre thanks to titles like The Evil Within and Ghostwire: Tokyo, its director, Shinji Mikami, stated a few months ago that they would like to explore other kinds of titles. It seems that HI-FI Rush is the first step in that new direction.
But tell us, have you tried this title yet? What do you think about it? Let us read you in the comments.
HI-FI Rush is available now for Xbox Series X|S and PC via Steam, the Microsoft Store, and the Epic Games Store. You can read more news related to this unexpected rhythmic action title if you click on this link.
