WW2 Rebuilder it is a very particular title that lands on the market in these cold January days PC to tell us the other side of the war. The usual setting of the Second World Warwhich can already be understood from the prefix of the game, is a practically inexhaustible narrative source for developers from all over the world, the famous WW2 Games, in fact, they are quite numerous, and they count on a plethora of very avid enthusiasts, who often follow all the releases. This time, however, it is no longer time to fight and to impersonate one or the other faction, but to rebuild from the ashes the cities battered by the greatest war conflict in history. WW2 Rebuilder is a solid and engaging strategic simulation title, well done from a technical point of view, and also very original in terms of themes, which also has an underlying pacifist message, let’s analyze it in detail.
WW2 Rebuilder, new cities are reborn from the ashes of war
WW2 Rebuilder was developed by the Polish studio Madnetic Gameswhich you can find on this page, where there are also other developer projects, such as the interesting one Mythos: Build & Surviveand was published in collaboration with PlayWay, prolific publisher based in Warsaw, which you can find here. Central Eastern Europe proves once again to be a good point of reference for those who love PC Gaming, with another good level production, engaging and full of food for thought. The subtitle that we find in game says a lot about the playful intentions of the game, that is CITIES FROM THE ASHES. Precisely in a period like the one we are experiencing, with the conflict currently underway between Russia and Ukraine, the videogame universe tries to remind us of the historical mistakes of the past, and above all that war is always wrong. Unfortunately, governments seem to have learned nothing from the past, and the sad historical reconstruction it offers us WW2 Rebuilder it could instead make many understand how the destruction of cities and the loss of human lives in the name of ideals, principles or the conquest of resources and territories is always too high a price to pay. From the ashes of war, however, now is the time to rebuild. Historically the Second World War it was (for now) the bloodiest and most destructive conflict of mankind, and the reconstruction of the destroyed cities, which took place after the war, only seventy years ago, is still often talked about. Thanks to the time travel allowed by the videogame medium, we can find ourselves in person in this crucial historical moment for Europe. the plot puts us in the shoes of an ordinary man, a civilian too young to be enlisted during the outbreak of war a few years earlier, fortunately for him, who now joins the many well-deserving men who are busy rebuilding the cities destroyed by the bloody war. The reconstruction simulation is very faithful to the real post-war scenario, where resources are obviously reduced to a minimum and where everything must be used wisely and recycled in an appropriate manner, reconverting all the ex-war material for construction purposes. The rubble, moreover, is one of the few things that is not lacking in the scenario where we move. The sandbox setting of the title helps a lot here, and you can move around at will in finding the right material to use. Everything can come in handy, and so an old broken wardrobe of a now destroyed house becomes, once treated, excellent recycled wood for construction, like concrete, cement, iron and all the basic usable elements. Nothing is left on the field, even the smallest bullets will serve as recycling material. Perhaps too much, the mechanical purists will say, because the combination of the elements is obviously much simpler than it would be in reality, but extracting copper through chemical processes, for example, would certainly have made the game heavier, and the choice of an approach too simulative on materials appears the most apt.
A moving journey through the devastated cities of Europe
WW2 Rebuilder it makes us move, on our long journey towards the reconstruction of Europe, between really existing cities such as London, and its setting in the first person makes everything highly realistic. Very interesting is a narrative gimmick devised by the developer Madnetic Games, or rather the insertion of multiple and detailed historical flashbacks of the moments in which the cities were, before the German bombings of the conflict, at their maximum splendour. Along the lines of the narration of the cult TV series LOST Of J.J. Abrams, in order to understand each other. The settings are all really believable and well done, and being able to see them at their best serves not only as a constructive model, but also as an incentive in the realization of our city (re-)building enterprises. A title therefore that will appeal to those who love the genre of strategic simulation and city management, the genre from which WW2 Rebuilder it borrows some dynamics, but also to fans of historical games, since the title fits perfectly into the macro trend of WW2 Games. If we usually see titles in which the planes of the Second World WarFor example Warplanes: WW2 Dogfight, found here, or the classic war strategy games, this time the game offers us something completely different. The good visual sector is supported by an equally valid sound, with a good dubbing in English only, while for the other languages, including Italian, only subtitles are provided. The game interface is very clean and functional, leaving the first person view to carry out all the actions, and only a few side and bottom icons for the correct management of the reconstruction. Maneuvering the technical vehicles with our eyes, from the cockpit, makes everything very intriguing, as indeed being able to directly use the reconstruction tools with our hands. Find the interesting title on Steam at the following LINK. On the portal the requirements of the game are specified, which require at least the presence of a processor Intel Core i3 the equivalent AMD Ryzen 3 2300X with 8 GB of RAM memory and video card NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1050with which WW2 Rebuilder runs with few and negligible uncertainties. Recommended, however, to get the most out of it, a CPU Intel Core i5 or higher, double the RAM memory, or 16 GB, really useful considering the amount of data in the title, as well as a video card NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060. Finally, the free space required on the hard disk is remarkable, especially today that the SSDs, stingy but very fast, have retired the dear old and capacious mechanical HDDs, we are talking about thirty-six gigabytes. Nothing that good PC Gaming recent cannot hold up, mind you. The war is over, it’s time to rebuild everything.
