The conflict between Blizzard and NetEase will cause popular games like World of Warcraft to stop being available in China next week. Apparently, Tencent wants to take advantage of this situation and win over players in the region with Tarisland, an MMO that he presented in recent days.
The title is on the lips of the entire World of Warcraft community, as players believe it is a copy of the Blizzard title. For this reason, they raised their voices to point out Tencent for alleged plagiarism and for his strategy to gain ground in China amid the problems between Blizzard and NetEase.

WoW players lash out at Tarisland and Tencent
Tencent released the most recent trailer for Tarisland on January 13, that is, a couple of days before the end of the alliance between Blizzard and NetEase was confirmed. Some players believe that this is just a coincidence, but others believe that the Chinese company was aware of this and somehow decided to take advantage of the situation.
Subsequently, the community started talking about the similarity between Tarisland and World of Warcraft. The discussion has escalated to such a degree that players are accusing Tencent of plagiarizing Blizzard’s MMO and introducing its game at a key moment for the company’s future in China.
“Is this one of those ‘oh we can’t partner with Blizzard, we’re going to plagiarize one of their games and get away with it because our copyright law is different?’” one player said.
Even Chris Metzen, a creative who recently returned to Blizzard, was somewhat taken aback by the recent trailer for Tarisland. The companies involved have not officially commented on it for now. Tencent’s MMO does not yet have a release date, but its first closed Beta began on January 12 on PC and mobile. Below you can see a bit of his gameplay:
